This year, Salute to Nurses will run in the May 9th issue of the Boston Sunday Globe. A corresponding digital section will appear on Globe.com showcasing all the letters and stories of support.
In 2020, the onset of a global health crisis made Salute to Nurses was one of The Globe's more important community support initiatives. 2021 will be no different, as we plan on continuing to shine a light on the incredible frontline heroes.
The Boston Globe is proud to support the American Nurses Foundation as 10 percent of all media sales will go to this important organization. In 2020, The Globe donated nearly $50,000 on behalf of the Salute to Nurses advertiser and sponsors. View last year's submissions at: globe.com/salute

Aetna makes gift in honor of staff nurses for Nurses Month
Over the last year, nurses across the country have played a vital role in our nation’s fight against the most significant health challenge of our lifetime – the COVID-19 pandemic.
In recognition of their unwavering support, sacrifice and dedication, Aetna is donating $40,000 to support the American Nurses Foundation’s Coronavirus Response Fund for Nurses to help nurses leading the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a year unlike any other, the lives of frontline care workers have drastically changed, yet they continue to persevere in the face of adversity. We applaud the courage and commitment they demonstrate every day as they continue to prioritize the care and needs in their communities above anything else.
We are forever grateful to every nurse who continues to work through the challenges of COVID-19 and how they’ve helped redefine how health care is delivered.

102-yr-old WWII Veteran Sidney Walton Donating All Money Raised on National "No Regrets Tour" to American Nurses Foundation. Inspired by Capt. Tom Moore in the U.K.
Sidney launched his No Regrets Tour in 2018, aiming to meet all 50 governors in all 50 states to call attention to the dwindling number of WWII veterans and the sacrifices they made to save America. With 14 states left to visit, Sidney is dedicating all funds raised on the final leg of his Tour to frontline nurses in the pandemic. Inspired by "Captain Tom" in the UK, and in the spirit of friendly competition, he aims to raise "a dollar more than Moore."
In the run-up to his 100th birthday in April 2020, Captain Tom Moore Walked 100 lengths of his garden, hoping to raise $13,000 to help fight the coronavirus. He ended up raising $46 million and was knighted by the Queen for his efforts. Sir Thomas Moore died in February 2021 of COVID-19, but donations continue to be made in the spirit of his campaign to the Captain Tom Foundation.
In a country five times the population of the UK, Sidney's goal in the U.S. is to raise simply "$1 more than Moore" by June 4, 2021.

John's Crazy Socks Presents: Healthcare Superhero Socks
We created our Healthcare Superhero Socks to honor and thank frontline medical workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. We donate 10 percent of the sales of these socks to the American Nurses Foundation and have donated over $20,000 through February 2021.
Our company was inspired by John Cronin, a young entrepreneur with Down syndrome, who had the idea to sell crazy socks. Together with his father Mark, they opened John's Crazy Socks in December 2016. John’s Crazy Socks is a social enterprise with a mission to spread happiness and to show what people with differing abilities can accomplish. Over half our colleagues have a differing ability and your purchase helps us create more jobs.
We donate five percent of our earnings to the Special Olympics and have products that raise money for charity partners like the Special Olympics, National Down Syndrome Association, Autism Speaks and United Cerebral Palsy. We have raised over $400,000 for our charity partners.
We spread happiness by making a personal connection with our customers symbolized by the hand-written thank you note from John and the candy we put in every package. Open a package from John and you cannot help but smile.

Second, 10% of the proceeds is dedicated to the American Nurses Foundation, the charitable/philanthropic arm of the American Nurses Association. Crooked Chanter Company
Crooked Chanter Company is a new, small online apparel company based out of Connecticut, started by a Bagpiper and his wife. I am a retired Firefighter/Paramedic and Bagpiper with a Fire Department Emerald Society Band, as my wife and I traveled to Band events, we realized that there was not a lot of "swag" for those of us who love the Pipes & Drums "lifestyle," so Crooked Chanter was born. Aside from both working with Nurses in our professions, we have many family and friends who we admire and love that are Nurses as well. We wanted to come up with a lasting way to thank them all and be able to donate to a Foundation that supports them during their time of need. So we decided to design this shirt depicting the tenacity of those of you who put your life on the line to do the job without fanfare! We are so very happy to be able to donate 60% of the profits of this campaign to the American Nurses Foundation.
Solmate Socks Gives Back
As an eco-friendly, certified B Corporation™, giving back is at the core of who we are and what we do. While we have donated hundreds of thousands of socks to those in need over the years, we wanted to find a way to give back even more to our communities. As a small token of our appreciation, we have launched the Solmate Socks Give Back Collection. A portion of the proceeds from each pair of socks will be donated to a corresponding non-profit that specializes in a field we see doing great work in their community.
In addition to monetary donations, our hope is also that this collection can shed some light on why these organizations are so important and how much value they bring to us. We truly believe that if we all find a way to give back, together we can make a huge impact in this world and ultimately change someone's life, one foot at a time.
Treasured ThredZz - Unity ThredZz
It happened. You tested positive for Covid. Now you have to quarantine from your loved ones, and you can’t see your friends. Hopefully, that’s the worst of it. What if it isn’t?
What if you have to go to the hospital because the fever won’t break or you can’t breathe? Now, no one can see you—no one but the Dr’s and the nurses. You didn’t choose to be in this situation, but some people did, the nurses.
They are indeed on the front lines of this pandemic. They are choosing to be away from their family and friends, putting themselves in harm’s way to help you and everyone else. They deserve so much.
Unity ThredZz by Treasure ThredZz is one small way we can thank them.
It is no coincidence that this Sterling Silver Unity charm looks like two people coming together in a warm embrace. We designed it to remind us that soon we will be together again specifically.
With any purchase of a Unity ThredZz, 10% of the total sale is donated to the American Nurses Foundation
With this gift, you will give love and be loved. Together we ThredZz
