Pathway to Excellence Publications and Products

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

In light of current events that have underscored the significance for diversity and inclusion (D&I) in the work force, the Commission on Pathway to Excellence (COPE) has reviewed the D&I literature and thoughtfully strategized methodologies to explore how Pathway applicant organizations foster diversity and inclusion to support positive practice environments.

Effective April 1, 2021, the Pathway Standards Documents of Pathway applicant organizations are required to include a response to the following additional item as part of the Organizational Overview.

8. Describe the following:

  • the organizational strategies to optimize nursing workforce diversity and inclusion. If no such strategies are in place, detail the action plan to develop associated strategies within the next twelve months.
  • the training the organization provides around diversity and inclusion for employees. If no such training is in place, detail the action plan to develop associated training within the next twelve months.

The 2020 Pathway to Excellence & Pathway to Excellence in Long-Term Care Application Manual is now available for purchase. This is a revision of both the 2016 Pathway to Excellence and 2017 Pathway to Excellence in Long-Term Care Application manuals. The requirements for both designations are included in this one manual. There are some new concepts, however, much of the 2020 manual remains similar to the 2016 Pathway to Excellence and 2017 Pathway to Excellence in Long-Term Care Application manuals. Organizations applying or re-applying for either designation are required to write to the new elements of performance in the 2020 manual beginning with the February 1, 2021 cycle.
