Jasmine Bhatti

Jasmine brings over ten years of experience as a nurse from both the prestigious Barrow Neurological Institute and Mayo Clinic. She is a doctoral student at Arizona State University, and teachers’ assistant in the College of Nursing. Her doctoral research which encompasses servant leadership will be central to the leadership she demonstrates to her nursing staff who participate in the pilot. Jasmine will be responsible for the administrative duties at Navi, and for being the main point of contact to connect with staff at HonorHealth.

Melanie Brewer

Dr. Brewer will provide research consultation and support to the PI and study team to develop the research study for the pilot. Melanie has over 30 years of nursing experience and for the last 14 years has provided nursing research leadership at the network level. She has also worked as a nurse practitioner in internal medicine and oncology for over 20 years, including discharged patients during transition to the home setting. Melanie will collaborate with Navi Nurses and pilot project leaders to seek IRB approval for the research study and outcomes. She will also assist with data review and evaluation of the research findings once the study is underway.

Pamela Foster

Pamela will be overseeing the pilot from an administrative standpoint. Pamela has nearly 30 years of hospital case management experience and for the last 10 years has worked at a system level to implement processes and remove barriers. Pamela will be collaborating with Navi Nurses administration to structure the pilot and determine goals and outcomes. Pamela will assist with administrative support and breaking down any organizational barriers on the HonorHealth side. She will also assist with data capture and visualization.

Barbara Martindale

Case Management Director, Shea campus

Barbara oversees a team of 40+ case management professionals. She has many years of healthcare experience in various aspects of clinical care including case management. She has been in a case management leadership role at HonorHealth for the last 7 years. She will work with front line staff to make the pilot successful by identifying appropriate patients and ensuring that processes are followed to achieve intended outcomes. Barbara will troubleshoot daily problems and escalate major barriers to Marie and Pamela for resolution.

Troy Garland

With over 28 years of nursing and healthcare experience Troy Garland has been a bedside nurse, hospital executive, Medicare, Medicaid, Marketplace, and ACO executive as well as a clinical consultant. Troy has experience in inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory areas within commercial and governmental organizations (VA and DOD). Within these roles, Troy has expertise in operations, population health management, process development, group facilitation, speaking, patient engagement, big data, population health, and clinical application of technology. Troy is currently the Vice President of Clinical and Quality Operations for Equality Health where he is responsible for clinical operations, care management services, member outreach and engagement, quality improvement and risk adjustment. Troy is also co-founder and consultant with Clinical Innovation Consulting, LLC. His role will be to help provide guidance and support in the advancement of reimbursement for this new model of transitional care.

Richard Montague

As a nurse administrative professional, entrepreneur, and nurse researcher, Mr. Montague has led palliative care, home health agencies, and developed end-of life initiatives in the public and private sector. He has developed innovative approaches to high-risk patients in translational and transition of care from acute care centers back into the community and in mitigation of re-hospitalizations. Mr. Montague has over 15 years of administrative experience in underrepresented and fragile patient populations and is a current Congress of the Native American Graduate Healthcare Fellow. Mr. Montague will be overseeing the Navi Nurse Liaisons and will ensure data is collected and complete.

Sydney Pirc

Sydney has been a nurse for 7 years working in telemetry, oncology, and float pool. Sydney will be leading the consenting and recruiting of participants for the Re-imagining Nursing Grant. Specifically, Sydney will act as a liaison between HonorHealth and Navi Nurses and will oversee the other nurse liaisons in their roles. She is eager to help lay the foundation that will lead to the success of this groundbreaking research.

Kathi Zarubi

Kathi has proudly served HonorHealth / Scottsdale Healthcare since 1981. Kathi has over 30 years of experience in nursing leadership, holding several leadership positions prior to becoming a CNO in 2011. Her clinical background is in medical/surgical nursing, orthopedics, oncology, and radiation oncology. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Arizona State University in 1981 and her MBA with emphasis in Healthcare Management from the University of Phoenix in 2002. She completed her Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 2017. Her area of study was on nurse-physician collaboration at the executive level. She is board certified in Advanced Nursing Administration from the American Nursing Credentialing Center. She is a member of the Arizona Organization of Nurse Executives and is also a member of the American Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau International. Kathi is passionate about patient- and family- centered care and has chaired the system Patient and Family Advisory Council since 2005.

Kara Mangold

Kara Mangold, DNP, RN, NPD-BC, CCTN, CNE, EBP-C is a senior education specialist at Mayo Clinic’s Center for Individualized Medicine and Instructor at Arizona State University’s Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation. Her nursing practice has focused on acute care and organ transplant care. For the last 15 years, she has been involved with nursing education with a focus on innovation, healthcare systems, evidence-based practice, and genomics. She has nursing degrees from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND, Winona State University in Rochester, MN, and Arizona State University in Phoenix, AZ.

Melisa Salmon

Dr. Salmon is a registered nurse with more than 20 years of acute care experience and has served in staff nurse and clinical leadership roles in Jamaica and the United States. She is currently employed within the Banner Health System and as an instructor in the RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Concurrent Enrollment Program at the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation, Arizona State University. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Innovation Leadership degree and is passionate about nurses finding and sustaining meaning and joy in work. Dr. Salmon is an active member of professional nursing organizations and serves as Vice-President of the Beta Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International. She is serving as a nurse researcher for Navi Nurses in the Reimagining Nursing Initiative.
