The American Nurses Association (ANA) is deeply saddened by the passing of Jacqueline M. Fawcett, PhD, RN, FAAN, a towering figure in nursing scholarship and one of the most consequential voices in the intellectual history of our profession. Over a career spanning more than 45 years, Dr. Fawcett dedicated herself to advancing nursing as a discipline grounded in its own theory, knowledge, and science.

  The American Nurses Enterprise (ANE) today announced new findings from the INVEST Study, a national mixed-methods analysis designed to quantify hospitals’ investments in nursing and examine how those investments relate to financial performance.  

SILVER SPRING, MD – March 19, 2025 – The American Nurses Enterprise (ANE), the unifying force behind the American Nurses Association, the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and the American Nurses Foundation, today announced the launch of its 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, unanimously approved by the Boards of Directors of all three organizations.

SILVER SPRING, MD – March 19, 2026 – Today on Certified Nurses Day, the American Nurses Foundation (ANF) is proud to announce that one of the grant recipients of the Margretta Madden Styles Credentialing Research Grant, Olga Yakusheva, PhD, MSE, FAAN, has successfully completed her research examining the crucial link between nurse certification and the tangible benefit for both patient care and health systems. The emerging findings are promising and have only been exclusively shared during private poster sessions at select universities, such as the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and the University of Michigan School of Nursing. ANF awarded a total of $223,864 to Dr. Yakusheva to complete this study.

Today, ANA formally submitted its official comment letter to the U.S. Department of Education urging the department to classify post-baccalaureate nursing degrees as “professional” degrees as it implements federal graduate student loan provisions in H.R. 1.

  ANA has officially adopted The Men’s Health Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice along with formal recognition of Men’s Health Nursing as a specialty within the nursing profession.

TIME has named Jennifer Mensik Kennedy, PhD, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, president of the American Nurses Association (ANA), to the 2026 TIME100 Health List of the World’s Most Influential Leaders in Health. Dr. Mensik Kennedy was honored in the list’s Titan category.
