National recognition honors two American Nurses Enterprise leaders for their contributions to nursing practice and innovation

Dr. Katie Boston-Leary and Dr. Jennifer Shepherd Named Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing

SILVER SPRING, MD – The American Nurses Enterprise proudly celebrates the induction of Katie Boston-Leary, PhD, MBA, MHA, RN, NEA-BC, Senior Vice President of Equity and Engagement, and Jennifer Shepherd, DNP, MHA, RN, NEA-BC, NPD-BC, Director of Nursing Practice, Work Environment, and Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation, into the 2025 Class of Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing (AAN).

This distinguished honor recognizes nurse leaders who have significantly advanced healthcare through innovative, evidence-informed solutions that champion health and well-being in communities nationwide.

“I’m so honored to be recognized by my peers through this induction,” said Boston-Leary. “The American Academy of Nursing represents the gold standard in how nurses are driving change not only in healthcare, but throughout our communities and across society. This recognition is a meaningful milestone, and the work continues.”

Shepherd echoed that sentiment, saying: “This recognition reflects the collective work, mentorship, and purpose that have shaped my nursing journey. I accept it with deep gratitude and a continued commitment to advancing our profession.”

Their induction comes at a time when the voice of nurses is more critical than ever in shaping policy and transforming care.

“At a time when the expertise and leadership of nurses are driving some of the most meaningful changes in healthcare, it’s especially powerful to see two of our own recognized by the Academy,” said Brad Goettl, Chief Nursing Officer of the American Nurses Enterprise.

Boston-Leary and Shepherd will be formally inducted at the AAN Health Policy Conference on October 18, 2025, in Washington, DC.
