It includes numerous practical and real-world examples, coupled with discussion and reflection questions in every chapter, providing a foundation for multiple learning experiences. “Human-Centered Leadership in Healthcare: The Revolution Continues is a powerful and practical guide for transforming healthcare leadership from the inside out. “Human-Centered Leadership has been transformative for the nursing leaders—and leaders of nurses—across our organization. What makes it truly impactful is its ability to bridge theory and practice, offering practical, accessible strategies that bring human-centered leadership to life. With The Revolution Continues, this essential work deepens its relevance. A must-read for anyone committed to transforming healthcare through relational leadership and shaping the future of healthcare.” —Brooke Baldwin, DNP, RN, CENP; SVP & Chief Nursing Executive, OHSU Healthcare; Associate Dean, Clinical Affairs, OHSU School of Nursing

“‘It starts with you, but it’s not about you.’ What a powerful statement. Many times I have said that leadership is an inside job. Before we can answer the calling to serve others, we need to work on ourselves. When we got the inside right, the outside follows. Dr. Lucy Leclerc, Dr. Kay Kennedy, and Susan Campis have built a smart, researched-backed, and heartfelt book around this truth. The message I took away is that small, intentional human choices—made from a place of self-awareness and self-care— can ripple out and reshape an industry that’s ready for change. It is time for healthcare leaders to move away from transactions and toward transformations and trust. This book helps show us the way.” —Quint Studer, Co-Founder, Healthcare Plus Solutions Group and author of The Calling: Why Healthcare Is So Special

“In Human-Centered Leadership in Healthcare: The Revolution Continues, the authors have crafted an essential guide that challenges traditional paradigms and inspires healthcare leaders to engage in a deeply transformative journey. This book is a call to action for leaders to prioritize human-centered approaches that make meaningful and lasting impacts on both patient care and organizational well-being. With profound insights and evidence-based practices, this book builds upon its predecessor, guiding leaders to cultivate environments rooted in trust, resilience, and compassion. Through personal narratives, research-backed strategies, and practical tools, the authors illuminate the importance of starting from within—nurturing the Self—and extending outward to awaken, connect, and uphold our teams and colleagues. Each chapter offers a rich tapestry of wisdom and actionable strategies, enabling leaders to navigate the complexities of modern healthcare with authenticity and courage. The book’s focus on relational leadership fosters inclusion, collaboration, and empowerment, making this revolution not just a fleeting moment but a lasting movement toward excellence. Human-Centered Leadership in Healthcare: The Revolution Continues is an indispensable resource that will inspire healthcare leaders at all levels to become architects of a future where human dignity thrives above rigid hierarchies. It challenges us to lead boldly, communicate with integrity, and build workplaces where we don’t just work—we flourish together. Dive into this remarkable journey and discover how you, too, can be part of this revolution that champions the heart of healthcare leadership.” —David Marshall, JD, DNP, RN, FAONL, FAAN; Senior Vice President & Chief Nursing Executive , Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA

“Human-Centered Leadership in Healthcare: The Revolution Continues is more than a book—it is a bold and necessary manifesto for our time. The updated edition builds thoughtfully on the original framework, offering tested strategies, powerful narratives, and actionable insights that resonate deeply with the realities nurse leaders face today. As a chief nurse executive, I see firsthand the urgent need for leadership that is courageous, compassionate, and grounded in purpose. This book delivers exactly that. From the integration of caring science to the crosswalks with national standards, it bridges the academic, operational, and human dimensions of leadership in a way that is both practical and profoundly transformational. This is not just a guide for individual development—it is a call to collective action. Whether you are at the bedside, in the boardroom, or shaping the future of nursing education, The Revolution Continues equips you to lead with clarity, authenticity, and heart.
