Overview

Naloxone is a proven opioid reversal agent that effectively reduces opioid-related deaths and increases referrals to substance use disorder treatment. However, despite its effectiveness, nurses still face significant barriers to its use including stigma, limited access, and lack of education. Within this article, you will explore an educational intervention led by advanced practicing providers (APP) that demonstrates how improving nurses' knowledge of naloxone is critical in combating stigma, enhancing patient outcomes, and addressing the opioid crisis.
