The ANA Membership Assembly, the governing and official voting body of the American Nurses Association (ANA) acted today to advocate for meaningful legislation to address gun safety and firearm access and for increased funding for mental health services and gun violence and prevention research, including research on gun violence against health care workers and in health care settings.  

The representatives of the ANA Membership Assembly recommended actions to address the significant and egregious gun violence that is gripping the country as an urgent public health issue.

Today, the American Nurses Foundation (the Foundation) announced a new endowment to permanently fund the Jeannine Rivet National Leadership Award through a generous contribution of $250,000 by Jeannine Rivet.

During the 2023 American Nurses Association's (ANA) Membership Assembly in Washington, D.C., ANA President Jennifer Mensik-Kennedy commented on the recommended approach.

The prestigious Jeannine Rivet National Leadership Award for 2023 has been awarded to Alita-Geri Carter, MSN, RN, CPNP-PC. This annual award is sponsored by the Jeannine Rivet National Leadership Fund, 

More than 350 registered nurses and others gathered for the 2023 American Nurses Association (ANA) Membership Assembly, the governing and official voting body of ANA, which commenced on June 16 in Washington, DC. Attendees discussed the ongoing nurse staffing crisis and efforts to enhance the visibility of nursing among other pressing issues.  

The American Nurses Association’s (ANA) Center For Ethics and Human Rights  empowers and guides nurses in the position statement, “The Nurse’s Role & Responsibility in Unveiling and Dismantling Racism in Nursing”. 

Insufficient nurse staffing and longstanding work environment issues jeopardize patient safety and negatively impact nurses across the country.

Nearly 400 nurses from across the country gathered June 15 in Washington, D.C. for ANA Hill Day.

ANA, along with our partner organizations strongly support the Improving Care and Access to Nurses (ICAN) Act (H.R. 2713).
