ANE Kicks off Annual Research Symposium in Chicago: Highlighting how to Create a Healthier Future

American Nurses Enterprise shares latest research in creating a healthier future for nurses and patients alike

CHICAGO, IL – The American Nurses Enterprise (ANE) today convenes nurse scientists, clinicians, educators and leaders for its annual Research Symposium at McCormick Place in Chicago. Under the theme “Discovery to Impact: Advancing Research for a Healthier Future,” the symposium explores how nurse-led research can strengthen nursing practice and improve outcomes for patients and communities.

The program features opening and closing keynote presentations, 12 education sessions, and more than 60 poster presentations. Sessions examine professional governance, nurse well-being, patient safety, artificial intelligence, digital tools and strategies for translating research into practice.

Featured keynote speakers include:

  • Kenrick D. Cato, PhD, RN, professor of informatics at the University of Pennsylvania and nurse scientist for pediatric data and analytics at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. His research integrates machine learning, clinical decision support and human-systems design to improve patient outcomes and the clinician experience.
  • Vincent Guilamo-Ramos, PhD, MPH, LCSW, RN, ANP-BC, PMHNP-BC, FAAN, executive director of the Institute for Policy Solutions and Leona B. Carpenter Chair in Health Equity and Social Determinants of Health at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. His work addresses social determinants of health and family-based approaches to improving adolescent and young adult health, particularly in underserved communities.

“The goal of the Research Symposium is not just to leave nurses with information about what’s coming next in a conceptual way,” said Brad Goettl, DNP, DHA, RN, FAAN, FACHE, Chief Nursing Officer of the American Nurses Enterprise. “This symposium will provide real, applicable tools and truths about nurse well-being, workforce retention, and advancing the health of our communities.”

The symposium follows six research workshops held Tuesday, October 27, offering participants opportunities to strengthen research skills, explore evidence-based practice and innovation, and build professional governance and funding strategies. Workshop programming also included developing an ROI-based case for sustaining and scaling nurse-led evidence-based practice and quality improvement interventions.

Together, the workshops and symposium connect nursing research with the challenges facing healthcare organizations, helping participants build research capacity, strengthen clinical-academic partnerships and sustain a culture of inquiry.
