American Nurses Foundation Announces New President and Member to Board of Trustees

The American Nurses Foundation (the Foundation) has named Kathy Driscoll, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, CCM and Ena Williams,PhD(c), MBA, MSM, BSN, RN, CENP as new appointments to its Board of Trustees. Both Driscoll and Williams have demonstrated exemplary leadership and a commitment to bolstering nursing excellence. The Foundation is honored to have them join the Board.

Driscoll, who already serves on the Foundation's Board of Trustees, is the newly elected president of the board with her term beginning on April 1. She has acquired more than 30 years of nursing experience.  She holds certifications such as Nurse Executive, Advanced, and Case Management Nursing Honor Society. Driscoll currently serves as the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) at Humana where she focuses on improving the experiences of Humana’s expansive nursing community. She has led several initiatives supporting the health and well-being of Humana’s clinical communities, leveraging partnerships such as the American Nurses Association’s Healthy Nurse Healthy Nation ™ initiative and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Joy in Work Collaborative. Driscoll has previously served as Vice President and Chief of Operations at Humana At Home.

Williams joined the Foundation’s Board of Trustees on January 1 and currently serves as CNO at Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH), an American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet® designated, Level I Trauma, Academic Medical Center. She is the first African American CNO appointed at YNHH and oversees nearly 6,000 nurses and clinical staff. Williams led these clinical and operational teams through the COVID-19 pandemic, caring for nearly 7,000 COVID-19patients. Williams began at YNHH as a staff nurse in 1992 and quickly rose through the leadership ranks from Laser Coordinator (1993) to Nursing Director (2004). In 2018, she was promoted to the role of CNO for the hospital. Williams most recently led her nursing and clinical teams to receive their third ANCC Magnet® Designation.
