ANCC 2022 Call for Commission Members

On behalf of the ANCC Board of Directors, the Nominations Committee issues this call for qualified nominees for appointment to seats on the Commission on Accreditation in Nursing Continuing Professional Development (COA-NCPD), Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs (COA-PTP), Commission on Magnet® (COM), and Commission on Pathway to Excellence® (COPE), which serve as the governing bodies for their respective ANCC programs.

  • All open commission seats require applicants to be an ANA Member (C/SNA-ANA or IMD) unless otherwise noted.
  • All open commission seats are for four-year terms beginning, January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2026, unless otherwise noted.

The annual call is open until 11:59pm, Tuesday, May 31, 2022. You may submit a nomination for more than one commission; however, appointees may only serve on one commission at a time.

 Commission on Accreditation in Nursing Continuing Professional Development (COA-NCPD)

  • One (1) seat open for an individual who is an Emerging Leader
    • An Emerging Leader on the COA-NCPD is a registered nurse who has two years or less of experience in nursing continuing professional development from an ANCC accredited provider.
    • Term of Service: January 1, 2022 – December 31, 2023; not eligible for re-appointment to the Emerging Leader seat
  • One (1) seat open for an individual working in Academia/Education, preferably from an ANCC NCPD accredited provider College or University
  • One (1) seat open for an individual serving as an ANCC Accredited Provider Program director or nurse planner in an ANCC NCPD accredited provider representing a healthcare organization.
  • One (1) seat open for an individual serving as an ANCC Accredited Approver Program Director, or who has had experience as an Accredited Approver Program Director in an ANCC Accredited Approver
  • One (1) seat open for an individual representing interprofessional continuing education, does not have to be an ANA member

Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs (COA-PTP)

  • One (1) seat open for an individual who is an Emerging Leader from a RN Residency program
    • An Emerging Leader on the COA-PTP is a former resident from an ANCC PTAP accredited RN residency program who completed their program no more than 12 months ago
    • Term of Service: January 1, 2022 – December 31, 2023; not eligible for re-appointment to the Emerging Leader seat
  • One (1) seat open for an individual who is an Emerging Leader from an APP Fellowship program
    • An Emerging Leader on the COA-PTP is a former fellow from an ANCC PTAP accredited fellowship program who completed their program no more than 12 months ago
    • Term of Service: January 1, 2022 – December 31, 2023; not eligible for re-appointment to the Emerging Leader seat
  • One (1) seat open for a CNO in a hospital/ healthcare setting
  • One (1) seat open for an individual who is an Interprofessional Public Member, does not need to be an ANA member
  • One (1) seat open for an individual who represents a Physician Assistant with academic experience; working in a PA program preferred, does not need to be an ANA member
  • One (1) seat open for an APP Program Director from an ANCC accredited APRN Program; PA preferred, does not need to be an ANA member

Commission on Magnet® (COM)

  • One (1) seat open for an individual representing the American Academy of Nursing constituency
  • One (1) seat open for a registered nurse representing academia
  • One (1) seat open for a registered nurse with significant professional experience and responsibility for managing a patient care unit or department
  • One (1) seat open for an individual of foreign resident or international experience

Commission on Pathway to Excellence® (COPE)

  • One (1) seat open for an individual in a leadership role currently serving in the long-term care (LTC) setting
  • One (1) seat open for a registered nurse serving in a Nurse Manager role
    • Term of Service: January 1, 2022 - December 31, 2025
  • One (1) seat open for a Nurse Leader with experience in pre/post-acute care continuum

Nominees may submit electronically up to two (2) letters of endorsement with the required nomination materials.  All nomination materials must be submitted by 11:59pm ET on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.  If you have any questions regarding the appointments process, please contact Governance & Planning staff at ancc.exec@ana.org
