Retest Application

Policy

ANCC has a policy that allows candidates who do not pass their certification examination to retest.  If you do not pass a certification exam, you may apply to retest after 60 days. Applicants may not test more than 3 times in any 12 months.

Examination results are pass or fail. If you fail, your score report will include diagnostic information for each content area of the test. Consistent with the Appeals Policy, you cannot challenge a passing score or actions taken in setting a passing score, the examination or individual test items, or the validity of the test content. 

Process

Please wait 5 days after examination to submit a retest application online. To submit an application, visit our certification webpage and select your certification. Under Apply > Initial Certification Application > click Apply Online to login.

Retest applications are reviewed as unique applications with each application subject to eligibility requirements. To be eligible for retest, applicants must meet all eligibility requirements in effect when the retest application is submitted. ANCC may require supporting documentation to determine eligibility.
