SILVER SPRING, MD - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are monitoring an on-going outbreak of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in Wuhan, China. Coronaviruses are not a new family of viruses, however the CDC is seeking to understand COVID-19 as it continues to spread. Cases have been identified in multiple countries, including the United States. While the risk within the United States remains low, preparedness is key as officials continue to study and understand the cause and spread of COVID-19.
The American Nurses Association (ANA) supports ongoing efforts in the investigation, monitoring, and research of COVID-19 along with the development of diagnostic criteria and tools, therapeutic treatment modalities, and prevention efforts to minimize further risk to the global population's health.
