ANCC Appoints New Nurses to the Commission on Certification

SILVER SPRING, MD — The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) recently announced the appointments of DeeAnn Davidson-Corbett, MSN, AGACNP-BC and Joan VanBuskirk, BS, RN-BC to the Commission on Certification (COC). Commission members are selected by an Appointments Committee, which is composed of six current Content Expert Panel Chairpersons. Commissioners of the COC are tasked with governing ANCC Certification credentialing programs and activities, adhering to appropriate Scope and Standards of Practice, setting ANCC Certification Program policy, and conferring board certification on candidates who meet the requirements for certification.

Davidson-Corbett has worked as an inpatient nurse practitioner on the hepatopancreatobiliary surgery service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) since 2011, and is a founding member of MSKCC’s nurse practitioner council. At the national level, she serves as a content expert for the ANCC Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification exam, having previously served on the exam’s Item Writer and Standard Setting Panel.

As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse at Kaiser Permanente in California, VanBuskirk brings a unique understanding of the relationship between mental and physical health. Her expertise includes assessments for psychiatry and chemical dependency issues throughout the age span. VanBuskirk is a member of Kaiser Permanente’s Disaster Response Team and assisted with medical relief following Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita. She is a member of Kaiser’s Critical Incident Stress Management Team and Psychiatric Emergency Response Team, as well as the national Registered Nurse Response Network.
