7 Steps to Organizational Excellence: A Practical, Interprofessional Approach to Evaluating Operations and Outcomes

This 1-day workshop introduces the concepts contributing to healthcare organizational excellence and is designed to aid organizations seeking to embed a culture of excellence through a variety of established programs. The focus of the workshop is identification of organizational excellence as derived from the literature, high reliability organizations (HROs), and nationally recognized programs, including the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®, ANCC Pathway to Excellence® Program, and Accreditation programs.
Key Learning Outcomes
- Explore concepts that are relevant to achieving organizational excellence in relation to key principles of high reliability, organizational credentialing, certification, leadership, and work environment.
- Facilitate engaging and dynamic discussion regarding current state of the organization on the journey to organizational excellence.
- Analyze gaps to determine steps forward in the pursuit of organizational excellence.
Karen Gabel Speroni, PhD, MHSA, BSN, RN
Dr. Karen Gabel Speroni has nearly 30 years' experience in biomedical and evidence-based practice research, including consulting work with academic medical centers, Institutional Review Boards, and community hospitals. She currently chairs the University of Maryland Shore Regional Health Nursing Research Council, serves as a clinical scientist on two Institutional Review Boards, and provides research consultation for other hospitals.
