Public Citizen’s Report on Health Care Workers Safety

ANA released a statement and spoke at a press conference in support of Public Citizen’s report, “Health Care Workers Unprotected: Insufficient Inspections and Standards Leave Safety Risks Unaddressed.” The report calls for government to do much more to protect against recognized hazards, such as musculoskeletal injuries from manual patient handling, workplace violence and sharps injuries. The report coincides with ANA’s publication, Safe Patient Handling and Mobility: Interprofessional National Standards, and the introduction of the Nurse and Health Care Worker Protection Act of 2013 (H.R. 2480) in Congress.
