Did you know that nurses are experiencing the same increasing weight challenges that the entire country is experiencing? See this visual of the increased weight of our country, beginning on slide 5.
Join us, 3 ANA staff (Holly, Barb, and Suzy) in our commitment to being a HealthyNurse™ during the 10 weeks before National Nurse’s Week. While being a HealthyNurse™ is much more than “Healthy Weight”, we have chosen this as our focus, and have committed to losing 1-2 pounds a week until Nurse’s Week. Some of the changes we may make include: eating smaller meals (four meals at 500 calories), increasing water intake, avoiding sugary drinks to include soda, fruit juice, and alcohol, minimizing snacking, and by increasing exercise and walking to 30 minutes a day five times a week. We are each doing it in the way that works for us.
Join us in losing that “last 10 pounds” or that “first” 10 pounds! Take note of your weight today, and let’s each lose 1-2 pounds a week to become a healthier nurse.
We will be sharing our successes and posting evidence based resources for you on Facebook. Share your stories with us!
