ANA continues to spearhead the collaborative nomination of nurses to relevant Steering Committees and Technical Advisory Panels (TAPs), such as NQF's Evaluating Efficiency Across Patient-Focused Episodes of Care and Pressure Ulcer Steering Committees and five of The Joint Commission Professional and Technical Advisory Committees to name a few.
The process for advancing an ANA nomination:
- A call for nominations is received
- Staff offer suggestions of ANA members for consideration by the Executive Office staff
- Willingness to serve is ascertained from potential nominees
- The CEO discusses potential nominees with the President
- The President selects the nominee
- The CEO communicates to staff the President's decision
- Staff advances the nomination on behalf of ANA
An NQF nomination advances as follows:
- A call for nominations is received from NQF
- The NQF Nursing Organizational members are asked for the names of suggested candidates who have agreed to serve if selected.
- Staff offer suggestions of ANA members for consideration by Executive Office staff for submission to the NQF Nursing Organizational members by ANA
- Willingness to serve is ascertained from potential ANA nominees
- The NQF Nursing Organizational members' suggestions are disseminated for selection
- The CEO discusses the potential nominees with the President
- The President selects the nominee
- The CEO communicates to staff the President's decision
- Staff indicates ANA's support for a particular candidate and advances the candidate's name.
- The consensus candidate's nomination is circulated for sign on by the NQF Nursing Organizational members
- In the event that the consensus candidate is not an ANA member, the President will be asked to reconsider the candidate.
- The consensus candidate's nomination is submitted on behalf of those who have agreed to sign on.
