As a professional, I felt the need to belong to a professional organization in order to strengthen the voice of nursing and health care. I also joined ANA to become involved on a national level with legislative and organizational changes related to nursing. ANA has also helped me to care for my patients, by encouraging increased knowledge and skill in my preferred area of expertise, and by constantly assisting me with gaining that knowledge. ANA has made a difference in my career by increasing expectations.
