The American Nurses Association (ANA) morns the passing of Jo Eleanor Elliott, MA, BSN, RN, FAAN, who served as ANA’s president for a critical four-year period in the 1960s during which it battled for the creation of the federal Medicare and Medicaid health programs. Elliott, who was 87, died May 1, in Boulder, CO.
