The American Nurses Foundation (the Foundation) has named Wilhelmina M. Manzano, MA, RN, NEA-BC and Marian Shaughnessy, DNP, MSN, RN to its Board of Trustees.
"Wilhelmina and Marian will play a critical role in helping the Foundation meet its mission of transforming our nation's health," said Foundation Chair Tim Porter-O'Grady, DM, EdD, APRN, FAAN. "These esteemed nurse leaders bring a wealth of expertise to our Board and significant contributions to the nursing profession, as a whole."
As Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive (CNE) and Chief Quality Officer (CQO) for New York-Presbyterian (NYP), Manzano leads nursing and supports the advancement of nursing: nurse credentialing, nursing practice and standards, education and continuing education, quality, research and informatics. As CQO, she oversees quality, performance improvement, patient safety, and infection prevention and control functions, as well as Joint Commission and regulatory compliance activities. Before her time as a CNE for NYP, Manzano held the position of Chief Operating Officer for NYP/Allen Hospital, where she was responsible for hospital operations of the 200-bed community hospital in Manhattan.
Shaughnessy serves on the board of the University Hospitals of Cleveland – Cleveland Medical Center. She is co-chair of the Hospitals Quality and Professional Affairs Committee and is a member of the Medical Group and Clinical Council committees. She also serves on the Capital Campaign Committee for the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing of Case Western Reserve University.
