Understanding the supply and distribution of nurses is key to ensuring access to
care and an effective health care system. A new report from HRSA’s National
Center for Health Workforce Analysis presents data on the supply, distribution,
and education/pipeline of the U.S. nursing workforce. The data come from a
variety of sources and present recent trends and the current status of the
registered nurse (RN) and licensed practical/vocational (LPN) workforces. The
report is intended to be used by national and state workforce planners, as well
as educators, researchers, and policy makers.
