The American Nurses Association (ANA) invites public comment on the draft ANA
position statement:
Care Coordination and Nurses’ Essential
Role. ANA has drafted this position statement articulating the
need for registered nurses to be integral in care coordination efforts.
The dual goals of health reform - quality improvement and cost control - are
largely reliant on effective coordination of patient care. This position
statement articulates the essential role of the registered nurse in the care
coordination process. ANA is deeply committed to improving the quality of
outcomes for patients and providing greater health care efficiencies through
care coordination centered on the needs and preferences of patients and their
families.
