The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced
it is accepting applications for the new Innovation Advisors
Program that seeks “to support and expand the number of health care
leaders with the knowledge and vision to find innovative ways to improve care
for patients and use our healthcare dollars more wisely.” Up to 200
Innovation Advisors will be chosen by the Center for Medicare and
Medicaid Innovation. Nurses are eligible to apply. The first
group of Innovation Advisors will start their six-month intensive orientation
and applied research period in December 2011. The Advisors are expected to
commit up to 10 hours per week during an initial six-month period. Each
participating Advisor’s home organization will receive a stipend in conjunction
with their participation.
