Would you “friend”
a patient on
facebook? The National Council for State Boards of Nursing reported that, last
year, 33 state boards received complaints against nurses who violated patient
privacy while using social media. ANA’s
Principles for Social Networking
examines the benefits and
risks inherent in social networking and provides nurses with guidelines about
how to interact online without undermining one’s career or patients’ privacy.
