The National Council for State Boards of Nursing reported that, last year, 33 state boards received complaints against nurses who violated patient privacy while using social media. ANA’s Principles for Social Networking examines the benefits and risks inherent in social networking and provides nurses with guidelines about how to interact online without undermining one’s career or patients’ privacy.
