The US Drug Enforcement
Administration (DEA) is sponsoring a third National Take Back Initiative for
unwanted and unused prescription drugs on
October 29, 2011 from 10:00 AM
– 2:00 PM. The DEA reports that over 309 tons of drugs were turned in
during the last two events. Prescription drug abuse continues to be a serious
health issue among Americans. Removing expired and/or no longer needed drugs
from the home can assist in curtailing illegal and dangerous drug diversion, as
well as ensure these drugs are not flushed into our waters.
