The American Nurses Association (ANA) does extensive legal work on behalf of nurses on a wide range of issues. This month, ANA launched, Legal Action
, a new section on its NursingWorld website to highlight this work, and provide updates on ANA’s legal action on behalf of nurses. Issues include fighting for safe staffing, protection of the scope of practice for RNs, advancing ANA’s environmental goals, and supporting enforcement of laws that ensure access to health care provided by advanced practice registered nurses.
Visitors can check the site for legal developments in various cases, such as the ongoing California case in which ANA is fighting the practice of permitting unlicensed school employees to administer insulin to schoolchildren, and in the broader context, who regulates the practice of nursing.
