Psychiatric Emergencies in Medical-Surgical Patients: Are You Ready? is the CE module, featured in the
May/June 2010 issue of
American Nurse Today.
It’s estimated that 46% of the U.S. population experienced such mental-health disorders as anxiety, impulse control, and substance abuse in 2007. Some of those people will be hospitalized for either exacerbation of their diagnosis or for a medical-surgical condition. In the latter case, the stay in the hospital and physiological changes can lead to psychiatric emergencies. This CE will help medical-surgical nurses identify and manage psychiatric emergencies.
1.7 contact hours will be awarded to nurses who successfully complete this CNE activity.
