The American Nurses Association (ANA) is pleased to take part in a series of Capitol Hill briefings on the pivotal role Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) play in our healthcare system, and the fundamental importance of including APRN practice appropriately in healthcare reform.

Between May 14 and June 19th, ANA will co-host a series of briefings for congressional staff with advanced practice nursing organizations to highlight the practice of Certified Nurse Midwives, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists.

This APRN briefing series follows ANA's Nurses Week briefing on RN practice, which highlighted some of the many settings in which RNs provide care, including schools, operating rooms and the emergency room. As health care reform unfolds, giving Congressional staff a meaningful understanding of what RNs and APRNs do and the populations they serve has never been more important.
