The Medical Product Safety Network (MedSun) improves Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) understanding of problems with the use of medical devices so that the FDA, healthcare facilities, clinicians, and manufacturers can better address safety concerns. MedSun Over 350 health care facilities, primarily
hospitals, participate in the MedSun network. Trained MedSun Representatives from these sites come from Risk Management, Patient Safety, Quality Improvement, Biomedical/Clinical Engineering, Physicians
and Nurses, Materials Management, and Surgical Services.
The MedSun Web page provides easy public access to de-identified reports sent into the MedSun program in addition to important safety information to MedSun participants and to the national clinical community about reported problems.
On the website navigation pane is a link to the MedSun Newsletter as well as the Subnets, which are designed to collect and share information about actual and potential adverse events from specific clinical areas. This information is updated monthly.
