Mary Maryland Elected Illinois Division President of American Cancer Society

The American Nurses Association (ANA) congratulates Mary Maryland, PhD, ANP-BC on being elected President of the Illinois Division of the American Cancer Society (ACS). Maryland is the first nurse, the second woman, and the fourth non-MD to serve ACS in this capacity. Mary Maryland will serve a two year term, acting as a spokesperson and helping to guide the American Cancer Society’s missions of research, education, advocacy and patient services.

Mary Maryland is a board certified adult nurse practitioner, who currently serves on the Board of Directors for ANA and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the Board of Trustees for ANA’s Political Action Committee (ANA-PAC). Her commitment to patient care exemplifies the excellence of the nursing profession.
