Three new publications on nursing regulation will be released by the
International Council of Nurses (ICN) this month.
Nursing Care Continuum – Framework and Competencies; the
Model Nursing Act and the
Model Nursing Act Toolkit are the latest in broad array of regulatory tools from ICN. These documents not only provide guidance to countries developing regulatory regimes for the first time but also offer a benchmark that can be used to redesign existing arrangements.
ICN has longstanding expertise in the area of regulation, developing and disseminating information and tools to assist in regulation in all countries on a regular basis. As roles change and evolve to meet health needs, regulation of the nursing profession is critical in ensuring that patients receive safe, effective care. These new publications will proof useful to both government and non-government regulators and provide excellent resources to evaluate, develop and redesign regulatory policy.
