Just in time for the 2007-2008 seasonal influenza season, the American Nurses Association's (ANA) Center for Occupational and Environmental Health has released their "2007-2008 Flu Backgrounder", as well as, their "Best Practices in Seasonal Influenza Immunization Programs for Health Care Personnel" brochure (pre-publication version) on NursingWorld, ANA's website.
The "2007-2008 Flu Backgrounder" provides the most up-to-date recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and ANA regarding the 2007-2008 seasonal influenza season.
The ANA's "Best Practices in Seasonal Influenza Immunization Programs for Health Care Personnel" brochure compiles best practice strategies for increasing vaccination rates of health care personnel (HCP). This resource was developed by ANA to help facilities that employ HCP increase seasonal influenza vaccination rates of HCP, which--according to the CDC -- remains less than 50%, utilizing evidence-based approaches.
