POSITION TITLE: Senior Nurse Registrar
DEPARTMENT: American Nurses Credentialing Center—Certification, Registration Services
GRADE: 11 ($53,275 - $66,594 - $79,913)

RESPONSIBILITIES: Assumes primary responsibility for conducting a detailed analysis of initial and renewal certification applications to ensure a candidate’s eligibility to take requested examination or renew a certification. Primary staff to conduct accurate expedited reviews of advanced practice applications within set time frames and during high volume periods. Serves as the primary registrar for international applications, portfolio evaluations, and alternative eligibility applications. Accurately communicates to certificants and/or candidates via phone, electronically and/or in-person. Counselor to faculty, federal nursing services, and applicants with complex or detailed questions related to nursing careers or eligibility for initial certification or certification renewal. Conducts initial research of school data reports to determine overall success rates on ANCC exams. Contributes and participates in the evaluation of certification quality improvement programs and candidate audit processes. Confers with manager and nurse registrar to provide regular (at least quarterly) updates to non-nursing certification staff on nursing issues that impact applicants seeking certification. In conjunction with manager and nurse registrar, provides the nursing component to all eligibility (initial and renewal) web pages, applications, and other communications. Represents ANCC at exhibits and conferences and reports analysis of communications from conference attendees that impact certification, including changes in nursing practice and policy.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Must be a Registered Nurse. Masters in nursing required. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with an equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered in lieu of a Master’s Degree. Advanced practice nursing knowledge a plus. Four years of nursing experience required in addition to degree requirements. Must have experience in problem solving, data analysis, and in interpreting statistical reports. Well-developed skills in written and verbal communication are required. Superior customer service skills. Must be familiar with advanced practice nursing concepts. Must be fluent in terminology specific to nursing. Ability to navigate complex database systems. Competent user of Microsoft Office products. Ability to work independently and in teams; coordinate and follow through on several projects concurrently; completes projects and assignments within defined timeframes; and relate well with a variety of staff members, officials and the public. Ability to travel overnight and weekends by common carrier.
