On March 21, 2012, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a call for applications for hospital programs that facilitate the training of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (

While this is currently a modest demonstration program – only five hospitals are eligible to receive funding – this helps to solidify CMS’ understanding of the role of APRNs in meeting the primary care and overall health needs of our country.
